Season Eight
Time to roast Erik Furuheim and Lindsay Hendrickson? DONE. How about a month-long elimination extravaganza? DONE. More challenge-matches? YOU GOT IT. What's that? You want more? How about Improv Shmimprov producing it's first full-length comedy show, "SEX : aka Weiners and Boobs," performing in conjunction with Shmimprov's regular comedy every weekend? MISSION ACCOMPLISHED. Maybe you want the newspapers to confirm what everyone knows? FINE. We'll bring the Orange County Register out here and they'll tell you that "Shmimprov players show Los Angeles how it's done." You hear that LA? You done been served, and we've got more where that comes from. We're packing them in, we're knocking them down. And no matter how expensive gas rises, the tickets stay at five bucks.
Season 9
We’re not going to lie to you. Season Nine was awesome. March Madness. Improv Challenges. Shmimprov Idol. We brought on David Chorley, Drew Boudreau, Sean Coutu, and Tayler Lynn. What else happened? Okay. Um. We don’ t really remember. We’re writing this at the end of Season Ten, and way more cool stuff happened in that season. So we’re just gonna make some stuff up about Season Nine.
In Season Nine, we sold out the Honda Center with our first all improv-rock concert, we performed for Elvis Presley and Marilyn Monroe despite their “deaths,” and were proud to have Batman and Ash from Army of Darkness join us in Shmimprov Idol.
Season Ten
2008 was huge! First of all, we were declared the winner of Fox’s OC HotList for Best Improv Group, but you already knew that. Doing Friday and Saturday shows for an entire year not only made it the longest season to date but brought with it a huge number of new types of shows! Shmimprov started its first annual Orange County Improv Festival by hosting over a dozen other improv groups onto the Maverick stage in challenge matches. “Derek Choreheim” walked away victorious from the spectacle-heavy March Madness. Lead Day, Shmimprov celebrated its 300th show, and Thanksgiving heralded its 365th with a tribute to the Laugh Kitchen, the idea that started it all! We saw Miles Taber roasted, saw Patrick and Megan married (after forcing Patrick on an all-night improv journey to Yosemite!), Shmimprov did stand-up comedy for the first time, and Shmoctoberfest brought in special political, musical, and Game-O-Matic shows! We also brought in Jesse Moriarty, Curtis Andersen, and Sebastian Clark with November’s Shmimprov Idol show.
